Replacing the Skid Shoes on a Simplicity Two Stage Snow Blower
Watch our video on how to replace the skid shoes on a Simplicity two stage snow blower.
The skid shoes slide along the ground to protect the sides of the auger housing from damage. They also allow you to adjust the clearance between the scraper blade and the ground.
Remove the ignition key
Lift the auger housing and support it with a block of wood
Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts holding the skid shoes to the housing
Re-insert the bolts into the auger housing and skid shoe
Before fully tightening the bolts, adjust the skid shoe to your desired height, and tighten the bolts
Jack’s Safety Tips: Before servicing or repairing any power equipment, disconnect the spark plug and battery cables. Remember to wear appropriate safety glasses and gloves to protect against harmful chemicals and debris. View our Disclaimer.
