Zeroturn mower model 74375 will not do anything when key is turned on to start. Battery is charged. Have bypassed parking brake switches to check, nothing. PTO is not engaged . Seat is bypassed. The only thing left that I can see is the K1 kill relay. Is this possibly my problem. Motor oil is at correct level.
    Regards, Jim Benjamin

I HAVE A TORO ZERO TURN W/KOHLER COMMAND 20 HORZ.SHAFT I HAVE REPLACED FUEL FILTER FUEL PUMP AND IT ACTS AS IF IT IS RUNNING OUT OF GAS IT IDLES THEN STARTS TO DIE THEN YOU PULL THE CHOKE OUT AND TAKES OFF AGAIN THEN PUSH CHOKE BACK IN RUNS FINE FOR A MINUTE THEN SAME THING AGAIN DOES SAME ON HIGH RPM ALSO HAVE TOOK APART CARB ALL WAS CLEAN.THE MOWER HAS 550HRS AND IS ABOUT 7 YEARS OLD WAS RUNNING FINE A WEEK AGO WHEN PARKED.ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRICIATED.

    • ROB JEFFERS says:

Try replacing the fuel hose, 7 years old, it may be collapsing and choking off fuel flow. You also say you took carb apart, did you clean idle and main jets, did you check the float at 7 years old the float may be bad.

  6. mrsmith says:

I have a Toro self propelled walk behind model 20005… I used the mower once last year and it started but it smoked and ran roughly for about 10 to 15 minutes increments until it finally wouldn’t start anymore. Recently I’ve been trying to get it back working. I cleaned the carb and jet and it fired up and ran like a champ with no smoke… This was about a month ago. Now it won’t start and I don’t know what to do. I did notice the air filter is a little dirty, but really not that bad at all

I cleaned the carb and jets
cleaned the gas tank and refilled with new gas
Replaced the spark plug (it’s getting fire).

Please help, my yard needs to be cut badly…Thanks in advance

I Have a 2012 toro zero turn mower model 74626..recently had to replace the left side axle seal and lost some oil. problem is where do you add oil to the hydrostatic transmission.

  9. Ken says:

My Toro 20072 won`t stop running. I don`t have to pull the lower handle to start it or let go to stop it. Only way to turn it off is to pull the spark plug wire. I`m told there`s a microswitch that serves this purpose, but don`t where it goes.
    Thanks!

i have zero turn toro ss 5000, the drive belt has come off, what is the belt configuration to re install, so i can get it running again, it not broke just to much slack.

  13. Ryan says:

I have a toro ss5000 zero turn. The other day I ran over a dog run cable that was hidden in the grass. It tangled in the blades and stopped them, but the engine was still running. I shut everything down, untangled the cable and reinstalled the deck. Engine still starts just fine, PTO engages, blades start to spin, but sounds slow/weak. After about 10secs the blades are not spinning. Do these have shear pins? Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

I have a model 38052 Toro Snowblower SN 5004348 Mfg 1985 with a Tecumseh HS50 67246E engine SN 4234B. It appears that the governor is not working and the engine runs very fast on full throttle and oil leaks where the rod from the spool exits the crankcase. I have not disassembled the engine as I have to remove it from the snowthrower. What is the typical part that fails? 30591 Gear-Governor, 30588A Spool, 30574 Shaft-Governor or something else? All the linkages to the carburetor are connected. Is the repair difficult or extremely technical?

    Thanks
    Bill J

  15. Grady Duvall says:

My mower will not start and if it does start after a jump it runs well but next day battery is dead.

    • You’re battery may be on its way out. If it starts, the alternator will keep it running, but if the battery won’t hold a charge until the next day, you’ll probably need to replace it.

  16. Michael says:

I have a Toro 22″ recycler lawn mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine. I need to replace the primer bulb. I’m looking for info on how involved the process is and info on how to do it. Thanks.

    • Fortunately replacing the primer bulb is easy.
Before you start, make sure you have the following things ready:

-Crochet hook or other small hook
      -New primer bulb
      Primer Bulb Removal Tool (#19461)
      Primer Bulb Installation Tool (#19462)
      To Remove the primer bulb:
Press in on both sides of the primer bulb cavity to cause the retainer tabs to release
Pry the retainer out and then remove the bulb from the primer seat groove
Remove the primer seat by using either the hook or the primer bulb replacement tool
The ball and spring will fall out, be sure that you do not stretch, bend or compress the spring.
*You can also use the primer bulb replacement tool to make this process easier

To install a new primer bulb:
Place the primer spring and the ball in the primer valve bore.
Press the primer seat into the bore with groove on the seat facing out
Insert the primer bulb into the retainer and moisten the inside diameter of the primer bulb
Press into the primer cavity and line up the locking tabs with the locking slot in the cavity
Press until both of the tabs are re-seated in the locking slots
*you can also use the primer bulb installation tool to help make this process easier

Good luck, let us know if this helps solve your problem!

  19. Don says:

I have a Toro 22in Recycler Lawn Mower Model 20353, this is the 4wd model. I need to remove the top belt cover (part # 8 on page 7 of the Operator’s Manual) so that I can remove the accumulation of dried grass under the co0ver. It is not obvious to me how it comes off, I suspect there are a series of clips but I don’t want to force anything for fear of breaking one of the clips which I suspect is plastic like the cover itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated,

  23. David Dolezal says:

I have a Toro 6.5 hp personal pace mower. It keeps shearing off the flywheel key. It will start fine but with an instantanious rattle on start up and on shutdown. While running it sounds great. After a couple starts it shears another key. The only thing I can find is the crankshaft has about one millimeter play up and down. The bearings are solid. Is that enough play to cause my problem? And is the repair difficult?
