V-belts are broadly classified by their cross sectional dimensions, but there are differences in belt construction, such as type and quantity of tensile fibers, subsurface fibers, covering, and whether belt profile is notched or straight. Even though an assortment of V-belts may have the same general classification, construction differences can make some of them more suitable for specific product application.
