How to Remove and Replace the Blade on a Honda Trimmer/Brush Cutter Combo

If you ever need to remove your blades for repair or need to switch what type of blade you are using, you will need to know how to remove and replace them, in case you don’t know, here is how!

To Remove:

Step 1:

Install the protective plastic blade cover that came with your blade (U-type brush/wood blade only)

Step 2:

Insert a 4mm hex tool fully into the gear case

Step 3:

Turn the blade until you feel the tool drop into the hole in the cover place/spacer

Step 4:

Verify the blade does not turn, the output shaft and blade lock nut have a left-hand thread, make sure the tool remains in the hole, then loosen the blade nut as shown, pay attention to the order of and orientation of parts as they are removed

To Install:

Step 1:

Installation is exactly the reverse of the removal

Step 2:

Install the blade with the cutting edges in the direction of rotation, be sure to align the hole in the blade with the shoulder on the cover plate/spacer

Step 3:

Tighten the blade nut to the specified torque, this can be found in your owner’s manual

Always consult your owner’s manual for specific information about your model of trimmer, such as the blade size and the amount of torque you will need to replace your blade!
