Installing Drift Cutters on an Ariens Two Stage Snow Blower

Drift cutters extend from the sides of the auger housing to knock snow drifts down into the augers. See how easily they attach to both sides of the auger housing.

Step 1:

Remove ignition key

Step 2:

There are pre-cut holes on the auger housing, insert the mounting hardware into the center hole

Step 3:

Insert the first drift cutter onto the auger housing, placing the bolt through the slot

Step 4:

Put the second bolt through the top hole on the auger housing

Step 5:

Put the wing nut on the center bolt, do not fully tighten

Step 6:

Alight the top bolt into the top groove of the drift cutter, put on this with nut and hand tighten

*This is what is known as the storage position, the following steps will tell you how to put the drift cutters into position for use

Step 7:

Loosen both bolts, but do not remove them

Step 8:

Slide the drift cutter backwards to remove the top notch from the bold, flip the drift cutter clockwise so it projects over the front of the auger housing

Step 9:

Alight the notch with the upper bolt, and tighten the wing nuts
