Replacing a Shear Pin on a Simplicity Two Stage Snow Blower

Watch our video on how to replace a broken shear pin on a Simplicity two stage snow blower.

The shear pins are designed to break when the auger shaft is over-torqued, so the gear case won’t be damaged if you get something stuck in the augers.

Step 1:

Remove the ignition key

Step 2:

Tilt the snowblower back onto it’s handles

Step 3:

Generally, shear pins will fall off if they break, but if some still remains, remove the piece, if it is wedged in there you may need a hammer and punch.

Step 4:

Align the hole in the auger shaft with the hole in the gear case shaft

Step 5:

Install the new shear pins through those holes

Step 6:

Tighten with the socket wrench, and then jiggle the auger to be sure it is tight

Any suggestions on changing the shear pin in a Simplicity snowblower attachment on a tractor. Can’t seem to find the hole in the inner shaft, the pin may be in the hole but there is no sign of it
