How to Change the Battery on a Toro Walk Behind Lawn Mower
In the lifetime of your lawn mower, there will probably be a time when you will need to change it’s battery to keep it running like new.
In case you are unsure of how to change the battery in your mower, here’s how!
Step 1:
- Be sure that engine is cooled and remove spark plug boot and wire from spark plug
Step 2:
- Lift up rear shield and remove the grass bag, support the shield so that it stays open
Step 3:
- Remove the screws that hold the battery in place
Step 4:
- Remove the tape that is over the battery cover and remove the battery cover
Step 5:
- Remove the insulating tape from the battery terminals
Step 6:
- Disconnect both wires on the battery
Step 7:
- Remove the battery
To Install the New Battery:
Step 1:
- Insert the new battery into the housing
Step 2:
- Replace the 2 wires
Step 3:
- If you damaged the insulating tape, you may use electrical tape to seal the battery terminals, or you can reuse the tape that you removed from the battery previously if it is still functional
Step 4:
- Slide battery housing back into the mower
Step 5:
- Replace the sealing tape if it is still useable, or you can use duct tape if the sealing tape has been damaged
Step 6:
- Remove whatever you have supporting the rear shield
Step 7:
- Replace the grass bag
Step 8:
- Reconnect spark plug wire
Changing the battery in a lawnmower is easy!
