How to Change the Blades on a Husqvarana RZ Zero Turn

Have you ever hit a rock, or some other obstacle, while mowing with your zero turn?

Damaged blades are a very serious problem and may also be compromising the quality of your cut. Just in case you have never attempted to replace your blades, or have been wondering how, here are some simple steps to help you out!

What you’ll need:

  • Gloves
  • Wood Block
  • Adjustable Wrench or a Socket Wrench
  • Torque Wrench
  • New Blade

Step 1:

Shut off engine, remove key from ignition.

Step 2:

Place the deck in the highest position possible.

Step 3:

Place a wood block between the blade and deck shelf.

Step 4:

Remove blade bolt by turning it counter clockwise with an adjustable wrench or socket.

Step 5:

Place the new blades opening firmly on the spindle housing.

Step 6:

While matching the star pattern for a correct fit, install the new blade with the side stamped “grass side” face down, and the side saying “this side up” facing up towards the mower.

Step 7:

Tighten the blade bolt by turning it clockwise.

**You should torque the bolt after tightening it, see your user manual for suggested ft/lbs.**

Reminders:

  • Always wear gloves when working with blades
